Crown Equipment Corporation has grown from a one-room operation in New Bremen, Ohio, founded by brothers Carl and Allen Dicke in 1945, to one of the largest lift truck manufacturers in the world. Growing Up

In 1960, Crown began production of a line of high-quality lift trucks for intermediate-duty applications, and says it became the fastest-growing material handling company in its product markets soon after. In addition to earning a reputation early on for safety and reliability, Crown products have consistently garnered attention over the years for their design. In fact, the company says its products have earned Crown more than 80 industry design awards. Further, Crown states that it designs and manufactures up to 85% of the components used in its forklifts, including motors, drive units, and electronic modules.

The Crown Encore Program

Crown sells both new and pre-owned lift trucks and access equipment, and claims to provide the same level of support for the used products it sells as the new ones. Crown also operates the Crown Encore program, selling reconditioned forklifts that undergo operational and safety inspections and that are “revitalized with 100% Crown Integrity Parts.” Additionally, Crown maintains a rental fleet of lift equipment for indoor and outdoor applications, offers warehouse design and planning solutions to help companies maximize their space and increase productivity, and produces and sells fleet-management solutions.
