    About Cushion Tire Forklifts

Cushion tire forklifts feature what are sometimes referred to as press-on tires that are made of solid rubber attached to a metal ring. They differ from pneumatic models that have tires either made of solid rubber or filled with compressed air. They are also most commonly used for indoor applications on smooth terrain, whereas pneumatic forklifts are suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications and on uneven terrain.

Characterized by press-on tires made of solid rubber attached to a metal ring rather than solid rubber tires or tires filled with compressed air, cushion tire forklifts are generally used for indoor work.

These machines typically run on gas, LPG (liquefied petroleum gas), and diesel, but some are fully electric-powered. Smaller models may have maximum lift capacities as low as 3,000 pounds, whereas higher-capacity models may be able to support loads of up to 100,000 pounds or more.

    Features & Common Applications

Cushion tire forklifts are often less expensive and have longer lasting tires because they operate on even terrain free from potentially damaging debris. They are typically lower to the ground and smaller than other types of forklifts, which makes them well-suited for operating in tight spaces, like between shelves and around pallets. That’s why you’ll see them at work in warehouses, factories, and manufacturing facilities as well as serving in the food processing and retail industries. Although designed primarily for indoor use, some cushion tire forklifts can be used sparingly in flat, outdoor spaces as well.

Find The Right Forklift For You

Toyota offers similar models, but also has a High-Capacity Large Cushion Forklift with a load capacity of 55,000 pounds, maximum lift speed of 31.5 feet per minute, and top speed of 20 mph.
