    About Jungheinrich

German manufacturer Jungheinrich claims to be a top-three company globally in the material handling equipment sector and warehousing and material flow sectors. Jungheinrich is also a leading European producer of warehousing technology. With a brand slogan of “Machines. Ideas. Solutions,” Jungheinrich says rather than making one-size-fits-all products, it focuses on providing customers the best solution for long-term profitability.

The company’s products include a wide range of electric, diesel, and LPG forklifts, including stand up / reach lifts, pallet jacks, cushion tire and pneumatic tire forklifts, walkie stackers, and order pickers, as well as racking equipment, automatic and shuttle storage systems, logistics software, and energy and drive systems. Jungheinrich also manufactures special-build fork lift trucks for packagers, foundries, and engine builders, as well as the printing, paper, chemical, timber, steel, cable, and automotive industries.

    Making History

Jungheinrich’s company roots date to 1908 when Hermann Jungheinrich founded the import/export company H. Jungheinrich & Co. After he died in 1947, brothers Dr. Friedrich and Otto Jungheinrich inherited control. In 1948, the company started producing hand trucks and lift trucks, and Friedrich registered the Ameise brand name. Friedrich is credited with laying the foundation for what would eventually become the modern Jungheinrich company when he founded H. Jungheinrich & Co. Maschinenfabrik in Hamburg in 1953. The firm introduced a battery-powered Ameise 55 forklift truck that year, and a year later launched the Ameise forklift series as the first lift trucks and tractors with a driver platform.

In 1956, Jungheinrich developed the Retrak reach truck, and in 1957 it released the Ameise Junior, described as “the first wheel-support lift truck.” Two years later, the Teletrak, “the first automatically controlled and inductively guided stacker,” followed. The same year that Friedrich Jungheinrich died in 1968, the company introduced an ETX series of high stacking, narrow aisle trucks for warehouses. Years later, Jungheinrich would develop the world’s first reach truck with a central joystick and take claim as the first truck maker to offer all diesel and LPG trucks with hydrostatic or hydrokinetic drive systems. The company would premiere the world’s first forklift truck with a rotating cab in 2005.

    Rentals & Refurbishment

Besides manufacturing new access and lift equipment, Jungheinrich operates a refurbishment plant for used forklift trucks in which trucks are processed through a standardized six-step refurbishment concept to become Jungstars, or “as good as new.” Jungheinrich says a five-star-principal approach it takes guarantees each Jungstar is restored to perfect condition technically and visually. Jungstars are notably sold with the same 12-month warranty that Jungheinrich delivers its new forklift trucks with. Elsewhere, Jungheinrich maintains a rental fleet comprising 40,000-plus rental stackers offered throughout Europe. If you’re interested in buying new or used Jungheinrich lift and access equipment, LiftsToday.com has scores of models for sale every day.
