UCC Search Lets You Look Up Lien Records Before You Buy
When you’re buying equipment, a truck, or another asset, it’s vital to ensure the seller actually owns it and no lender has a claim on it. Likewise, when you’re selling something, you need to be certain that the piece isn’t collateral on an existing lien.
Before money changes hands, you need to know:
- Is there money still owed on the asset?
- Is there a lien attached?
- Are there risks you can’t see?
The new UCC Search app in the Sandhills Cloud gives you instant answers. UCC Search makes it simple to look up Uniform Commercial Code filings for a business or person before you buy from them, or your own UCC filings before you sell.
Verify Before You Buy (Or Sell)
To start using UCC Search, fill out its brief registration form. You’ll need to upload images of your business license and a couple of documents verifying your company name, phone number, and address. There’s a small fee per report, so enter a method of payment as well.
After approval, you’ll receive an email saying you’re ready to search for relevant filings, select the records you need, and purchase reports online. (Searching by name and state will give you the best results, as address details may vary.)
Once you’ve purchased a UCC report, you can revisit it for 90 days without incurring an additional charge. Your Sandhills representative can provide more details.
