JCB has launched a new subcompact telehandler in the Loadall line, the 504-13. The mighty mite can lift up to 4,000 pounds (1,814 kilograms), and it achieves Tier 4 Final emissions compliance without needing any engine aftertreatment.

“With the compact telehandler market up by about 30% this year, it’s an exciting time to add a new subcompact machine to the JCB lineup and further extend the most diverse telehandler range in the industry,” says JCB North America product manager Rebecca Yates. The manufacturer currently sells 15 other telescopic forklift models in the North American market.

Small In Stature, Big In Performance

The subcompact 504-13 Loadall stands just 6 feet, 6 inches (2 meters) tall and 5 feet, 1 inch (1.5 meters) wide, so it can squeeze in wherever you reasonably need it to be. It can raise a load up to a maximum height of 13 feet, 3 inches (4 meters), and it has standard 4-wheel steering for a tight turning radius.

As mentioned above, the 504-13’s 39-horsepower (29-kilowatt) JCB Perkins diesel engine doesn’t require DEF (diesel exhaust fluid), a DPF (diesel particulate filter), or any other exhaust aftertreatment. It pumps out 120 pounds-foot (163 newton meters) of torque to the standard four-wheel drive. A limited-slip differential is available as an option.

The little telehandler makes use of a two-speed hydrostatic transmission. You can change the shuttle direction with a lever on the steering column or a switch on the joystick.

    Versatile & Solid

The new 504-13 Loadall comes with either a compact tool carrier or a skid-steer coupler. This lets you tailor your new telehandler to the types of attachments you want to use with its proportional auxiliaries and single-lever electro servo controls.

The bodywork on the 504-13 is all steel, and the boom is JCB’s own “U-pressed” steel unit. The company says that the boom’s construction gives it fewer stress points and welds than competing brands.

Finally, the new handler comes with CB LiveLink telematics and geofencing alerts, along with hose burst check valves to keep the rams from collapsing should a hydraulic hose fail during operation.

    More Uptime

JCB says that the new 504-13 Loadall benefits from 500-hour extended service intervals, like other models in its product line. The company signals that it intends to launch a new compact model later this year.
