Kalmar Debuts Operator Experience-Focused 58-Ton DCG380-540 Forklift
Kalmar’s new DCG380-540 is a heavy-duty pneumatic tire mast forklift with a lift capacity of up to 117,000 pounds (54 metric tons). It’s designed for use in steel mills, ports, and other environments with long shifts and weighty loads. At the same time, the new fork—a replacement for the DCF370-520 from the previous generation—demonstrates Kalmar’s emphasis on providing a smooth, fast, precise operation and user comfort.
“The Kalmar DCG380-540 makes the big challenges easy,” says Kalmar Vice President of Forklifts, Stefan Hultqvist. “We wanted to develop a solution that would offer customers who are handling heavy, demanding loads on a daily basis the same smooth operation, comfort, and precise control of a smaller-capacity machine. Driver experience has a very important role to play in enabling improvements in productivity and safety, and we believe this new solution delivers exactly what our customers need.”
Powerful Precision
The Kalmar DCG380-540 is powered by a stout Volvo engine with the latest emissions controls, Kalmar says, or with Tier 3-level emissions for less environmentally stringent regions. The lift features a load-sensing variable hydraulic system for exact control, as well as faster lifting and lowering speeds. Together, the engine and hydraulics should reduce the DCG380-540’s operating cost, Kalmar says.
The forklift also comes with Kalmar’s ergonomic EGO cabin that’s customizable with various options. The EGO cab offers outstanding visibility and is adjustable to operator preferences, the manufacturer says.
Kalmar even offers variants of the DCG380-540 for customers who need shorter wheelbases and even more lifting capacity from the machine. The new forklift is currently available worldwide.
