Snorkel had a large presence this week at the American Rental Association's ARA Show 2021 in Las Vegas, Nevada. To its indoor and outdoor booths, the manufacturer brought several telescopic boom lifts including its latest 2100SJ model, as well as some large-deck, rough-terrain construction scissor lifts. The company also showcased some of its lithium-ion, battery-electric units including a Speed Level sigma boom lift, a slab scissor lift, and a telehandler.
Snorkel also launched its new telematics offering, Snorkel OnSite, at the show. The Trackunit-powered technology is available on most of the company’s current mobile elevating work platforms and telehandlers. In other news, Snorkel owner Don F. Ahern was inducted into the ARA Rental Hall of Fame at the show for his achievements in the rental and manufacturing industries.
The Snorkel 2100SJ
Snorkel says its latest 2100SJ ranks among the world’s largest self-propelled aerial lifts. The diesel-powered telescopic boom model now has a longer forward reach of 115 feet (35 meters) as well as better ground clearance. Its remote secondary control pendant allows users to look where they’re going as they operate the lift at height.
The big 2100SJ has a maximum working height of 216 ft (66 m) and a 30-ft (9.1-m) jib boom. Snorkel points out the 2100SJ’s small inside turning radius of just 8.5 ft (2.6 m) with its axles extended. The manufacturer also touts the lift’s 7.11 million-cubic-foot (201,300-cubic-meter) working envelope volume.
Among the 2100SJ’s five steering modes is a lateral steer function that allows for side-to-side travel. Also, the lift’s wheels move during axle extension to avoid tire scrub and smooth out the process.
Show Models
Snorkel also displayed its high-platform-capacity (1,500 pounds; 680 kilograms) S9043RT and ultra-high capacity (3,500 lbs; 1,587 kg) S9043RT-HC rough-terrain scissor lifts at the ARA Show. Designed for the construction market, the two lifts share a maximum working height of 49 ft (15 m).
Other conventionally powered Snorkel models on hand included the manufacturer’s 660SJ telescopic boom lift, equipped with an optional pressure washing package, and its 460SJ mid-size brother that recently received a dual-envelope lift capacity boost.
Snorkel’s lithium-electric S4740E slab scissor lift also features a dual capacity envelope and is now in full production. Other battery models at the Snorkel booth were the lithium-electric SL26RTE Speed Level sigma boom lift and the SR5719E, which the company says is the world’s first lithium-electric, compact, rough-terrain telehandler.
