JLG Offers Bolt-On Quad Tracks For 600S, 600SJ Telescopic Boom Lifts & Other Models
JLG has made available new, detachable rubber-track assemblies for its 600S and 660SJ telescopic boom lifts and certain other two-wheel steer models. Four triangular Quad Track units can be bolted to a lift’s standard hubs after the wheels have been removed, giving customers the option to use the lift as either a wheeled or tracked unit.
The tracks provide superior flotation, less rutting, and more traction than tires on soft or slick terrain, as well as greater comfort and no breakover while traversing obstacles. Customers can now order the removable tracks with new 600S and 660SJ lifts, as well as through the aftermarket for select models.
Tracks When You Need Them
The new Quad Track assemblies have 18-inch (457-millimeter)-wide rubber tracks. The 600S and 660SJ lifts do not require wide-load transport while wearing them. The 34-in. (864-mm)-tall and 54-in. (1,372-mm)-long track units are suitable for use on sand, mud, lawns, potholed roads, abrupt transitions, and other less-than-ideal surfaces.
“There are many considerations when selecting a boom lift for the work at hand,” says JLG Boom Lifts Marketing Manager Randi McClure. “This can sometimes make it challenging to choose between tires or tracks. When this happens, Quad Tracks offer an alternative solution: The ability to convert a normal, wheeled JLG boom lift into a highly capable, tracked machine. This allows operators to cover a wide range of applications on multiple jobsites with one machine, and offers fleet managers the ability to switch between continuous tracks and traditional wheels as needed.”
JLG designed the low-profile Quad Tracks to have minimal effects on a lift’s ride height, travel speed, and overall width. However, they do not work with the manufacturer’s HC3 models or units with four-wheel steering or a tow bar package. JLG plans to announce compatibility with other lift models soon.
JLG’s 600S & 600SJ
The JLG 600S telescopic boom lift offers a 59.7-foot (18.2-meter) platform height and 50.2 ft (15.3 m) of horizontal outreach. This model has 600-pound (272-kilogram) unrestricted and 1,000-lb (454-kg) restricted platform capacities. The four-wheel-drive 600S can reach 3.8 mph (6.1 km/h). It is available with a 48.8-horsepower (36.4-kilowatt), Tier 4 Final diesel or an 84-HP (62.6-kW), dual-fuel engine.
The 660SJ offers more height and reach than the 660S at the expense of lift capacity. It can raise its platform to 65.7 ft (20 m), reach out to 57.1 ft (17.4 m), and lift up to 550 lbs (249.5 kg) unrestricted and 750 lbs (340.2 kg) restricted. The 660SJ features the same engine options and top travel speed as the 660S, however.
