JLG has announced the availability of two new E18 drivable vertical mast lifts. The E18MCL has a maximum platform height of 18 feet (5.5 meters) indoors and 13 ft (4 m) for outdoor use in construction and industrial settings. Its indoor-only brother, the E18MML, can also attain an 18-ft platform height for facility maintenance and cleaning as well as for finish work. Both lifts have a single-occupant platform with a standard capacity of up to 450 pounds (204 kilograms), which is 22% more than competing models according to the manufacturer.

“The new E18 vertical lift series from JLG has been engineered to provide the most important features and benefits: maximized durability, ease of serviceability, and enhanced productivity, while keeping operator safety, confidence, and comfort in mind,” says JLG Product Manager Misty Mason. “These new models offer an efficient and productive way to tackle up-and-over work and an alternative to using ladders and scaffolding.”

    Compact Footprint

Both E18 vertical lifts are only 2.5 ft (0.76 m) wide and weigh just 1,950 lbs (885 kg), which JLG says is less than comparable units on the market. The new lifts can fit through doorways, use most freight elevators, and operate on sensitive floor types, according to Mason.

The E18 models use a DC electric drive system powered by long-lasting 220-AH, 6-volt batteries located in the base. JLG says the new lifts can achieve twice as many duty cycles as their top competitors. They can be driven at up to 0.5 mph (0.8 km/h) at full height or 2.5 mph (4 km/h) with their platforms lowered.

The indoor/outdoor JLG E18MCL rides on solid, non-marking tires and uses a scissor-style steering mechanism. The indoor E18MML comes with caster wheels and JLG’s familiar Point & Go steering system as found on many other vertical lifts from the company. A zero turning radius helps the E18s maneuver into tight spaces, and a 30% gradeability rating allows them to navigate slopes and ramps.

    A Stock Picker Package Option

JLG’s load-sensing system keeps the operator from exceeding the E18 lifts’ capacity limits. The E18MML comes with a 400-lb (181-kg) standard platform and 100-lb (45-kg) work tray. The E18MCL is equipped with a 400-lb platform, as well as a 250-lb (113-kg) extension deck with an improved roller system. The new rollers and redesigned mast guards help keep debris from accumulating during operation.

Both E18 lifts can be quickly switched to alternative platform options by two workers with no tools required. Available platforms come with saloon doors or drop bars on the front or sides. A narrow platform option is just 22 inches (559 millimeters) across.

JLG also offers a Stock Picker Package Option with a fold-down work tray platform, side entry saloon doors, a gate alarm, and twin amber beacons. The package makes the E18s well-suited to warehouse and distribution center duties.

The E18MML and E18MCL keep the operator apprised of important information such as battery charge, tilt, and overload status via an onboard Multi-Display Indicator. The lifts are also compatible with JLG’s Handheld Analyzer troubleshooting tool. Available options include ClearSky telematics with fleet management and maintenance tracking, CleanGuard to contain any hydraulic leaks, rubber bumpers, a lifting hook for crane pickup, and a phone cradle with USB recharging.
