JLG’s New Bi-Energy X770AJ & X1000AJ Boom Lifts Let Users Choose Battery Or Diesel Power
JLG is now selling Bi-Energy versions of its X770AJ and X1000AJ compact crawler boom lifts for indoor and outdoor use. Both have a lithium-ion battery pack and electric motor as well as a diesel engine that work independently of each other. The user can switch between electric and diesel power using buttons on the console.
“With this option, operators can choose the best power source for the application (either the engine or the lithium-ion batteries),” says JLG Boom Lift Product Management Specialist Angela Patterson. “This dual-power source design means that JLG Bi-Energy models can be used in a wide variety of settings, from general greenfield construction projects to environmentally sensitive jobsites.”
Dual Personality
“The Bi-Energy system is designed to maintain the high performance and efficiency our customers expect from the X770AJ and X1000AJ, while minimizing their carbon footprint and decibel levels,” Patterson says. “Using the engine’s power, users can drive the machine to where the overhead work needs to be done, and they can switch to zero-emissions, all-electric battery power to work at height for the remainder of the shift. When the work is done, the users can power the engine back up and drive the machine for use at another location.”
JLG says its Bi-Energy X770AJ and X1000AJ are suitable for use in cold-weather applications, as well as in maintenance, cleaning, repair, and construction tasks at height. JLG plans to release other Bi-Energy compact crawler boom lifts at a later date.
JLG Bi-Energy Models
The Bi-Energy X770AJ has a 100-ampere hour, 76-volt battery pack, and the X1000AJ has a 150-Ah, 76-V pack. The batteries can be recharged using a power outlet as the opportunity presents itself, even while the lift is in use. Both compact crawler lifts also include a Kubota D902 21.6-horsepower (16.1-kilowatt) diesel engine.
The Bi-Energy X770AJ has an unrestricted platform capacity of 500 pounds (226 kilograms). It offers a working height of up to 84 feet (25.6 meters) and a horizontal outreach of up to 43 ft (13.1 m). The lift is 3.25 ft (0.99 m) wide.
The Bi-Energy X1000AJ also has a 500-lb platform capacity, but it provides a greater working height of 106 ft (32.3 m) and a longer outreach of 54.2 ft (16.5 m). The X1000AJ’s width is 3.9 ft (1.18 m).
