    Komatsu Operations

Komatsu was established in the early 1920s after the Komatsu Iron Works separated from the Takeuchi Mining Company. In 1970, a major expansion effort into the United States led to the establishment of Komatsu America Corp., now a U.S. subsidiary of Komatsu Ltd. based in Rolling Meadows, Illinois. Komatsu America manufactures equipment for the forklift, construction, mining, compact construction, and forestry markets and claims to be the second-largest fully integrated manufacturer and supplier of construction equipment in North America. Komatsu Ltd., meanwhile, manufactures construction, mining, utilities, forestry, and industrial machinery, and is part of the Komatsu Group along with roughly 265 other companies.
