    About Snorkel

Art Moore founded Snorkel in 1959 with a focus on manufacturing aerial work platforms and equipment for firefighting and rescue operations. The company’s first product, the Snorkel No. 1, could lift firefighting personnel up to 85 feet (26 meters) using an articulating boom.

    Snorkel S3219E Slab Scissor Lift

Snorkel officially entered the construction market in 1977 with the introduction of the TB-42 and TB-42P telescopic boom lifts, which had many of the same features found on the company’s previous firefighting and rescue-focused products. It followed those with the UNO articulated boom lift in 1986 and the 60-ft (18.3-m) ATB-60 articulated boom in 1988. In 1997, Snorkel was acquired by OmniQuip International, which sold its lineup of fire and rescue products so Snorkel could focus solely on aerial lifts.

Over the next 30 years, the Snorkel brand would change hands several more times, coinciding with its expansion into Australia, New Zealand, and Asia. Elwood Holdings LLC acquired the company in 2002 and moved its manufacturing operations to a plant located in Elwood, Kansas, where the company still builds lifts. After more acquisitions, Snorkel finally landed with Xtreme Manufacturing in 2013. The two organizations now share a global corporate headquarters in Henderson, Nevada. Soon after, Snorkel celebrated its 60th anniversary.

    Snorkel Equipment Types

This includes telescopic, articulating, and towable boom lifts, personnel lifts, slab and rough-terrain scissor lifts, telehandlers, mast lifts, speed levels, and more. Snorkel’s lineup of scissor lifts starts with the S3006P push-around mini scissor lift, which weighs 682 pounds (309 kilograms) and has a working height of 12.5 ft (3.8 m) and a platform capacity of 529 lbs (240 kg). Then, there’s the S3970RT rough-terrain scissor lift, which weighs 8,355 pounds (3,790 kilograms), has a working height of 45 ft (13.7 m), and has a platform capacity of 771 lbs (350 kg).
