JLG Introduces Remote Analyzer Reader To Provide Remote Diagnostics To ClearSky Telematics Customers
Helping customers maximize the uptime of their equipment fleets is one of several benefits JLG has detailed concerning the new remote analyzer reader (RAR) it announced at the American Rental Association’s ARA Show in Orlando in mid-February. Working with JLG’s ClearSky telematics offering, RAR enables service departments to remotely assess a JLG machine’s configuration and traits to “diagnose qualitative operational issues, check the on/off status of its connected technologies, or review its last 25 fault codes.”
Remote Diagnosis
JLG says RAR supports most JLG boom, scissor, and telehandler models with an integrated CAN (controller area network) device. JLG notes existing ClearSky portal customers must update the telematics software in their JLG machines’ CAN devices to use RAR. Information that RAR gathers about a machine is compiled into a single-sheet summary format accessible via the ClearSky portal.
Korry Kobel, JLG director of engineering, says service technicians having on-demand ability to drill down to individual machine details provides a wealth of data to work with to remotely diagnose a wide range of issues without needing to have the machine on-site. More convenient and versatile than a handheld analyzer, RAR lets technicians log into ClearSky, enter a machine’s serial number, and obtain information before visiting the jobsite, thus saving time and money and reducing machine downtime.
Uptime Maximized
“Ultimately, the ability to remotely analyze machines through RAR will help ClearSky portal customers maximize the uptime of their fleet,” says Kobel. “Additionally, having access to better and richer real-time data will help service departments be more efficient and focus their time on units requiring immediate attention.”
