Genie Launches New GS-4046 E-Drive Slab Scissor Lift With E-Drive Electric System

Genie says the new AC electric E-Drive system in its GS slab scissor lifts has shown a 30% increase in runtime per charge during testing, as well a 20% reduction in lifetime battery costs. (Photo courtesy of Genie.)

Genie recently made available a new E-Drive system across its entire Genie GS slab scissor lift family. The optimized, emissions-free, and quietly operating AC electric drive system delivers a green slab scissor solution to commercial and residential contractors, rental owners, and retail users, as well as better runtime, reduced maintenance costs, and leading performance, Genie says. Genie’s scissor lifts lineup ranges from roughly 18- to 52-foot (5.5- to 16-meter) models that are also available in hydraulic drive versions.

    More Runtime, Lower Battery Costs

Genie product manager Michael Flanagan says Genie’s largest GS models especially benefit from gradeability and runtime improvements the E-Drive system introduces. Genie claims E-Drive supports 25% real-world gradeability, and E-Drive scissor lifts have shown a 30% increase in runtime per charge in testing and up to 20% reductions in lifetime battery costs. The system’s brushless motors are fully sealed against moisture and water for maintenance-free longevity, Genie notes.

Genie’s new E-Drive electric drive system allowed the manufacturer to do away with hydraulic brakes in the GS-4047 slab scissor lift and reduce its width by an inch. The result is the new GS-4046 E-Drive. (Photo courtesy of Genie.)

E-Drive GS models feature 70% fewer hydraulic hoses and fittings, meaning drastically reduced odds of hydraulic leaks, Genie says. Elsewhere, E-Drive models also feature new side forklift pockets to go along with rear pockets for more transport options. E-Drive has also enabled Genie to omit the GS-4047’s hydraulic brakes, allowing the manufacturer to reduce the width of the 44.9-ft (13.7-m) lift by an inch; Genie named the updated lift the GS-4046 E-Drive.

    Find Your Genie Lift Machine

Flanagan says E-Drive scissor lifts have 2X the tire tread depth of previous designs, as well as the torque and traction to climb dovetail ramps, even if one wheel slips. “A 14-degree breakover angle enables these scissor lifts to crest the top of the ramp without bottoming out, eliminating the need to winch machines onto trailers or raise dovetails after partial loading,” says Flanagan.

You’ll find thousands of new and used Genie lifts for sale every day on LiftsToday.com, including a huge selection of slab scissor lifts like the GS-4047.
