JLG Updates Its Large Rough Terrain Scissor Lifts With New, More Descriptive Model Names

Mobile elevating work platform (MEWP) and telehandler manufacturer JLG has announced that it will apply a new model nomenclature to its three large rough-terrain scissor lifts. The new naming convention begins with “RT” for “rough terrain,” followed by a two-digit number representing each lift’s maximum platform height in feet and two more digits denoting the machine’s approximate overall width in inches.

The 330LRT, 430LRT, and 530LRT in JLG’s LRT series are now respectively known as the RT3394, RT4394, and RT5394. The lifts are receiving new decals displaying their new model numbers.

Capabilities & Dimensions

The RT3394 scissor lift, formerly known as the 330LRT, can reach a platform height of 33 feet (10 meters) and has a stout platform capacity of 2,250 pounds (1,020 kilograms). The machine is 7 ft, 9 in. (2.36 m) wide.

JLG’s RT4394 (previously called the 430LRT) can lift up to 1,500 lbs (680 kg) to a platform height of 43 ft (13 m). Its 7-ft, 9-in. width is the same as the RT3394 above.

Finally, the RT5394 (née 530LRT) boasts an impressive maximum platform height of 53 ft (16 m), and its platform capacity matches the RT4394 above at 1,500 lbs. The RT5394 is a little narrower than the other large rough-terrain JLG models with a machine width of 7 ft, 7 in. (2.3 m).

Common Features

The large RT scissors from JLG share a number of common design elements. Each can drive at up to 3.5 mph (5.6 km/h) with its platform lowered. Oscillating axles come standard to help the lifts navigate uneven and/or challenging terrain.

The JLG trio’s large platforms have a debris-shedding design that smooths out the deployment of their platform extensions. Their pin-based load-sensing system doesn’t require any weight on the platform in order to be calibrated with a single click using an analyzer.

After a quick and accurate leveling session, the JLG scissor lifts can be operated smoothly by joysticks. The engine-powered machines emit low noise and vibration levels. The RT series also provides easy access to service and maintenance points.
