Used Aerial Lift Inventory Higher Than Year-Ago Levels & Trending Up

New Sandhills Global market reports covering lifting equipment in Sandhills’ U.S. marketplaces show that despite a 2.92% month-over-month dip in inventory levels, inventory was up 17.9% over year-ago levels and is trending up. The largest category increase occurred in the telehandler segment, with inventory levels up 50.73% year over year.

Looking at the boom lift category specifically, Sterup explains, “Working with a lot of rental companies out there, there are a lot of boom lifts for sale in the marketplace today but we did see a dip in inventory levels last month. So, even though we're up 4.7% year over year on total inventory, we did see a decrease of 4% over the last month, which is a good thing for our sellers. Anytime you have less inventory on the sites, it's going to drive up prices.”

“We’ve seen auction values decrease since the 2022 time frame, but again, because there's less inventory on the market, less inventory on the site, we have seen a little bit of an uptick in pricing,” adds Sterup. “This will be an interesting trend to watch. There's a lot of inventory on the market that hasn't ‘come for sale yet,’ but this will be something to pay attention to. Are these inventory levels going to continue to decrease?
