Used Forklift Inventory Surges Year Over Year, Other Categories See Monthly Decrease
Sandhills Global’s newest market reports cover February data for used lift equipment on LiftsToday.com and other Sandhills platforms. Used forklifts saw a surge in inventory levels year over year, with used cushion-tire forklifts up 29.8% and used pneumatic-tire forklifts up 21%. Used scissor lifts decreased 11.6% month over month, and used telescopic boom lifts dipped 7.3%.
Like inventory levels, asking prices had mixed results. The used telescopic boom lift category saw the highest M/M increase in asking prices in February, up 3%. Used slab scissor lifts also bumped up 2.5% and are up 3.3% YOY. Meanwhile, used cushion-tire forklift asking prices dropped by 4.7% YOY.
“Dealers are continuing to struggle with aerial equipment sales,” says LiftsToday Sales Manager Matt Sterup. “We are seeing well-priced inventory move quickly, but sales of higher-priced units are stagnant. We recommend sharpening the pencil on these units as we head into the spring selling season.”
